The aim of this session is to review some simple principles about DNA, from the perspective of Anglo-Saxon high schools, but above all to improve pronunciation, reading, and conversation in English on this very important topic.

A- The DNA RAP

listenning and answering

Listen and try to say what is the message of the next song.

B- The DNA memory

Writing, listenning

=> Remember as well as about DNA

1) Report six words connected with ‘DNA’.

2) an assistant is needed to write the words on the board.

3) Tell us one of your words and the assistant will report it on the board.

4) Maybe we could link some of these words and connect them with a topic such  as

  • Structure or organisation
  • Chemical components
  • Origin
  • Role or function
  • Use or developed experiments or tests

C- What do you know about DNA

learning and speaking

To assess if every body is OK with this knowledge

Watch this video about DNA

Then write each concept about DNA

and do the quiz: https://www.footprints-science.co.uk/index.php?quiz=DNA

D- Keep the line

learning and speaking

To assess if every body is OK with this knowledge, we will play question loops.

• There is a group, each member has a question and an answer to another question but there is a loop of theses questions and answers that is to say that the game could be played forever …

sample :

In your team, each member will got a line:

  2. one member begins the loop reading the question on the right part of the paper
  3. another member of the team must have the answer and gives it and then asks the question on her/his paper
  4. and so on till the first member answers a question and reasks her/his question

First group:

B : DNA structure is a double helix, that is to say two twisted strands

A : What are the components of a DNA strand ?

B : A DNA strand is a sequence of nucleotides which are complementary to the ones belonging to the second strand of the molecule
